What Selby stores, what it sends where, and what it never does.
The short version
Selby stores your listings, photos and settings on your device (IndexedDB) and, when you sign in, in your account so they follow you across devices. Photo Studio tools run in your browser and upload nothing. When you ask Selby to write a listing, the photos you chose are sent to Google Gemini for analysis, either directly from your device with your own key or through our server on hosted plans. We never sell your data and never use your photos to train models.
What we store
Listings you create (title, description, price, condition notes, tags, marketplace variants), the photos attached to them, buyer conversations you keep in Selby, meetups you schedule, and your settings (meetup spot, availability, negotiation floor, sound and theme preferences).
If you sign in: your email address, display name, plan and billing status. Payments are processed by Stripe; we never see or store card numbers.
If you add your own Google AI key: it is stored only on your device and sent only to Google when Selby calls Gemini. We do not receive it.
What leaves your device, and when
Photo Studio (auto-fix, crop, rotate, straighten, background removal): nothing. The models run locally.
Selby-written listings, marketplace variants, rewrites and AI Studio re-shoots: the photos and text you choose are sent to Google Gemini under Google's API terms. With your own key this goes directly from your browser to Google; on hosted plans it passes through our server, which forwards it and keeps no copy.
Posting: Selby copies text to your clipboard and opens the marketplace's own posting page in your browser. Selby has no access to your marketplace accounts.
Buyer conversations and Selby's replies
When you enable Selby on a listing, message text you paste or receive in Selby is used to draft replies within the rules you set. Selby never reveals your negotiation floor, never shares your address, and only proposes the meetup spot you configured.
Deleting your data
Delete any listing or photo at any time; it is removed from your device immediately. Reset everything from Settings. Deleting your account removes your account data within 30 days. Cached model and media files can be cleared from your browser settings.
